Dr. Tyler Horton was drawn to oral and maxillofacial surgery during dental school, inspired by the specialty’s ability to transform a patient’s quality of life through a single procedure. He provides a complete range of oral and maxillofacial surgery services, driven by a commitment to precision and excellence. Most importantly, he finds deep fulfillment in delivering meaningful care that enhances his community’s well-being and leaves a lasting impact on his patients’ lives.
Dr. Horton earned his Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University and his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Oregon Health & Science University. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Carolina, where he also completed a general surgery internship and his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He further completed an oral and maxillofacial surgery internship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
As a proud UNC alum, Dr. Horton is honored to provide exceptional oral surgery care to patients in the Triangle and across North Carolina.

Dr. Horton is passionate about the unique intersection of medicine, dentistry, and anesthesia that defines oral and maxillofacial surgery. He is dedicated to delivering oral surgery care that restores function, relieves pain, and helps patients regain confidence in their daily lives.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Horton enjoys attending sporting events and staying active. A former competitive ski racer and hockey player, he brings the values of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork into both his professional and personal life. He is grateful to share life with his wife, Hailey, his high school sweetheart and greatest source of support.
