Salwan Khudhur, DDS
Dr. Salwan Khudhur is honored to serve as a 2026–2027 Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Fellow at the Carolinas Center for Oral & Facial Surgery.
Dr. Khudhur grew up in San Diego, California, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and was on the Dean’s List. He went on to attend the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in Michigan. He graduated from dental school at the top of his class, ranking 2nd out of 142 students, and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society. During dental school, his passion for oral surgery was very noticeable. He established an oral surgery club and held a weekly workshop to discuss various topics in oral surgery with colleagues and faculty.
Upon graduation from dental school, he completed a year-long internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Harlem Medical Center. Following that, he completed his residency at Harlem Medical Center, affiliated with Columbia University. During his rigorous training in a heavy trauma center, Dr. Khudhur was able to gain extensive experience in the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery with particular interest in maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic, complex dentoalveolar surgery, and anesthesia.

In his free time, Dr. Khudhur enjoys interior designing, swimming, hiking, cooking, and traveling to explore different cultures.
