Dr. Michael Markiewicz’s practice is dedicated to treating children and adults with congenital and acquired deformities of the face, jaws, head, and neck. Dr. Markiewicz is one of a handful of surgeons in the country who is trained in and practices cleft and craniofacial surgery, orthognathic surgery, and head and neck reconstructive oncologic and reconstructive surgery. His expertise spans the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with an emphasis on complex jaw and facial deformities, those affected by craniofacial anomalies such as cleft lip and palate and craniosynostosis, the management of head and neck tumors, obstructive sleep apnea, and those in need of facial reconstruction.

Drawn to the breadth of oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Markiewicz values the specialty’s unique ability to improve both esthetics, form and function, which is the focus of his care when managing a patient. He takes a comprehensive approach to evaluating each patient and works closely with them to understand their underlying problem and what their needs are, but more importantly, what their specific wants are. This is done utilizing a multidisciplinary team of dental and medical professionals.

Dr. Markiewicz earned his dental degree from the University at Buffalo, his Master of Public Health from Harvard University, and his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) where he also completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery. After residency, he completed two fellowships: one in pediatric cleft and craniomaxillofacial surgery and another in head and neck oncologic and microvascular reconstructive surgery.

For Dr. Markiewicz, the most rewarding part of his job is helping patients achieve the facial appearance they are striving for and returning to living a healthy, and better daily life. Whether caring for a newborn with a craniofacial condition or an adult recovering from complex facial surgery, he is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care that restores health, confidence, and quality of life. Working with partners at CCOFS and in other medical and dental specialties, he will critically assess and manage patients with problems affecting the face, head, and neck.
