Dr. Kacy Wonder discovered her passion for oral and maxillofacial surgery while in dental school, where she had the opportunity to observe complex procedures both within her program and across the country.
Drawn to the problem-solving nature of the specialty and the unique ways it helps patients in meaningful, often life-changing ways, she quickly knew this was the career path for her. She particularly values the comprehensive approach to patient care that oral surgery provides, bridging dental and medical contexts.
Today, Dr. Wonder remains energized by the ever-evolving nature of oral and maxillofacial surgery, where medical and technological advances continually push the field forward. She takes pride in combining technical precision with genuine human connection.
For many patients, surgery brings understandable anxiety or fear, and Dr. Wonder finds it deeply rewarding to offer compassion, clear communication, and reassurance throughout the process. Dr. Wonder earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Messiah College before graduating Summa Cum Laude with her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine. She went on to complete her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at MUSC as well.
She is an active member of the South Carolina Dental Association, the South Carolina Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
