Originally from Greenville, SC, Dr. Howell graduated from Riverside High School and attended Clemson University before earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Dental Medicine.
After dental school, he practiced general dentistry for two years in a community health center and served as an adjunct professor at the University of Florida College of Dental Medicine. He then returned to MUSC to complete his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency.
Following residency, Dr. Howell practiced at Alaska Native Medical Center in a hospital setting, performing full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery services for the underserved communities in Alaska.
Dr. Howell returned to the Carolinas and completed a one-year reconstructive fellowship at Carolinas Center for Oral & Facial Surgery before joining the practice full-time, where he helped expand the practice to South Carolina.
