Patient Information

At Carolinas Center for Oral & Facial Surgery, we believe every patient deserves to have exceptional care in a welcoming and comfortable environment. We understand that oral surgery can be stressful, which is why we strive to make sure all patients feel informed and empowered about their care before, during, and after surgery.

What to Expect

Whether you’ve been referred by your dentist or contacted us directly, your care starts with a one-on-one consultation.

Consultation

During your consultation, we’ll review your medical and dental history, use advanced 3D imaging to evaluate your jaw, mouth, and facial structure, and discuss your goals and concerns. We’ll also walk you through anesthesia and sedation options to ensure you feel comfortable and confident moving forward.

Customized Treatment Plan

After your consultation, we’ll create a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. You’ll receive a detailed overview of your options,  next steps, estimated timeline, costs, and insurance coverage.  Our goal is to partner with you, so you feel supported and confident in your care, with a plan that prioritizes your comfort, strengthens your oral health, and helps you feel your best.

Surgery Day

On the day of your procedure, our team will guide you through every step to make the experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible. We’ll review your treatment plan, answer any last-minute questions, and ensure you’re fully prepared for surgery. Our board-certified surgeons and anesthesia team deliver expert care in our AAAHC-accredited surgical suites, so you can feel safe and at ease.

For Patients Undergoing IV Anesthesia
A preoperative consultation and physical examination are required before surgery. Please remember to avoid eating or drinking for eight hours before your procedure, and arrange for an adult to drive you home after your appointment.

Recovery & Follow-Up

Your care doesn’t stop after surgery. We’ll provide clear instructions, prescriptions, and support to make your recovery smooth and stress-free. Our team will check in to monitor your progress, schedule post-operative visits if needed, and ensure you’re healing well so you can get back to feeling your best as quickly as possible.

Guiding You Through Costs & Coverage

We understand that cost and insurance coverage can be a concern,  and we’re here to make the process simple and stress-free.

We’re in-network with most major dental and medical insurance providers and handle pre-authorizations, claim submissions, and billing questions on your behalf. Our experienced team will help you understand your benefits, verify coverage, and provide clear cost estimates before your procedure, so there are no surprises.

If your insurance doesn’t cover the full cost of treatment, or if you prefer additional flexibility, we partner with CareCredit® and Sunbit for convenient financing.

Whether you’re using insurance, paying out of pocket, or setting up a payment plan, we’ll help you find the option that works best for your needs so you can focus on what matters most: your health, comfort, and peace of mind.
