Protect Your Smile

PROTECT YOUR TEETH

Wearing a mouthguard is your first line of defense against dental injuries while playing sports. Ensure it fits snugly and covers all teeth. Custom-fitted mouthguards offer a higher level of protection and comfort.

PREVENT TRAUMA

In high-contact sports, wearing a helmet with a jaw protector can minimize the risk of jaw injuries and provide extra protection while participating in sports activities.

PREVENT DEHYDRATION

Stay hydrated before, during, and after sports activities. Dehydration can lead to muscle cramps, fatigue, and impaired performance. Encourage drinking water regularly, especially in hot weather.

REDUCE INJURY RISK

Always start with a proper warm-up to prepare muscles and joints for activity. Similarly, end with a cool-down routine to help prevent muscle soreness and injuries.

REST AND RECOVERY

Give your body time to rest between practices and games. Overtraining can lead to fatigue and an increased risk of injury.

WHAT TO DO IF A TOOTH GETS KNOCKED OUT

  1.  Hold the tooth by its crown (the part that’s usually visible in the mouth), avoiding touching the root.
  2. If dirty, rinse the tooth with milk or saline solution. Do not scrub or use soap.
  3. If possible, try to put the tooth back into its socket gently, facing the right way.
  4. If that isn’t possible, keep the tooth moist by placing it in milk or saliva. Avoid water.
  5. Contact our practice immediately for emergency care. Time is crucial in saving a knocked-out tooth.

DON'T IGNORE PAIN

Pay attention to any pain or discomfort during sports activities. Continuing to play through pain can exacerbate injuries. If you experience pain, take a break and seek appropriate medical attention if needed.
