Caleb Blackburn, DDS, MD
Dr. Caleb Blackburn is honored to serve as a 2025–2026 Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Fellow at the Carolinas Center for Oral & Facial Surgery.
Dr. Blackburn was born and raised in South Louisiana and earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University. He went on to attend LSU School of Dentistry, where he developed a strong interest in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
During dental school, he conducted research on fatigue and the biomechanical properties of resin dental materials, earning a first-author publication, honors in research, and several student awards. After dental school, Dr. Blackburn completed a rigorous six-year integrated MD–Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville.
There, he gained extensive experience in craniomaxillofacial trauma, benign and malignant pathology of the head and neck, orthognathic surgery, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery. His particular interest in orthognathic and TMJ surgery led to additional peer-reviewed publications in the field.

Dr. Blackburn is now continuing his advanced training as a fellow with the renowned team at the Carolinas Center for Oral & Facial Surgery in Charlotte, NC. Outside of surgery, Dr. Blackburn enjoys the outdoors, golfing, and spending time with his wife, also a local physician, and their son.
