The second annual black-tie gala and silent auction, held on September 14, raised over $100,000. A Night for Smiles is a Charlotte-based non-profit organization with the sole purpose of raising money to provide dental-oriented healthcare to the local community. Platinum Sponsor Dentsply Sirona presented this year’s gala and the selected beneficiary was The Kenneth D. Owen, North Carolina Missions of Mercy (NCMOM)–Charlotte.

The event showcased the NCMOMs-Charlotte clinic, a portable outreach program of the North Carolina Dental Society to provide free adult dental care to those in financial need. The next clinic will take place at the Bojangles Arena on October 18-19, 2019. The goals are to provide free dental treatment to 2,500 or more qualifying adults. The clinic is staffed by volunteer dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, laboratory technicians, health professionals and general community volunteers from Charlotte and across the state.

Nearly 60 items were auctioned off to the 400 people in attendance. Some of the items included a CEREC AC Omnicam, a suite to a Panthers game, and even two Goldendoodle puppies. Dr. John Nale of Carolinas Center for Oral & Facial Surgery and Dr. Sonia Chopra of Ballantyne Endodontics, founders of A Night for Smiles, served as the event’s hosts. Keynote speaker Evan Miller, DDS spoke about his experience of bringing the NCMOMs clinic to Charlotte.
