Biography
Dr. I.E. Davis, III is a native of Lake City, SC. He attended Furman University on an athletic scholarship (football). Dr. Davis graduated from Furman in 1980 with a biology degree. He then attended dental school at The Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Davis finished dental school in 1985. He then pursued further training at the University Of Mississippi School Of Dentistry as a general practice resident finishing in 1986. Upon completion of his general dentistry residency, Dr. Davis practiced general dentistry from 1986-1989 in Woodruff, SC.
After three years of general dentistry practice, he decided to specialize in oral surgery and was accepted for training at the University of Minnesota. He completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics in 1993. Dr. Davis furthered his training in oral surgery by completing a fellowship at the Oral Surgery Institute in Nashville, Tennessee in 1994. Upon completion of his oral surgery training, he returned to South Carolina and has been in private practice in Lexington, West Columbia and Irmo.
Dr. Davis has served as President of the SC Society for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the President of the SC Chapter of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is a past Chief of the Department of Surgery at Lexington Medical Center as well as Chief of Department of Dentistry at Lexington Medical Center. He is currently on active staff at Lexington Medical Center and Palmetto Richland Hospital.
