Dr. Matthew Moore

Biography

Dr. Matthew Moore was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. He earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Morehouse College, where he was also a student-athlete on the baseball team. Upon graduation, he received the Intramural Research Training Award from the National Institutes of Health, investigating therapeutic methods for salivary gland regeneration at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.

Dr. Moore went on to obtain his degree in dental medicine from East Carolina University. He then moved to Los Angeles and completed a General Practice Residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. At this time his desire to pursue Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was cultivated. Dr. Moore completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He completed residency at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN, obtaining a certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as Health Policy.

His research on diversity in oral and maxillofacial surgery has been nationally recognized, earning multiple awards. He has participated in international surgical missions to Bangladesh, Jamaica, and Honduras, reaffirming his passion for global service and health equity. Dr. Moore’s surgical interests include dentoalveolar, orthognathic, TMJ, and facial cosmetic surgery, fueling his desire to pursue fellowship training at CCOFS.

In his free time, Dr. Moore enjoys photography, collecting vinyl records, golfing, and spending time with his family. He is honored to return to his roots to serve the community that shaped him.
